In April of this year I finally bit the bullet and invested in a DJI Mavic Pro to up my photography game. So far the experience has been incredible and I'm enjoying learning to fly and shoot aerial photography and video. I decided on the DJI Mavic Pro based on the favourable reviews and compact size; ideal for travel and camping! It is not a cheap piece of equipment, but I have to say the technology packed into this piece of kit is incredible.
I decided on the Fly More Combo which includes two extra batteries, a case, two spare sets of propellors, a car charger and battery charging hub. A wise person told me that flying a drone should never be "an event". This kit fits nicely in my backpack or carry-on luggage and takes less than a minute to set up for flight.

Every drone needs to have a name. My drone's name is "Penny" and she is a welcome addition to our family. The naming of Penny came from our recent trip to Victoria, B.C. where my oldest daughter and I attended Canadian World Swimming Trials and had an opportunity to meet Canadian Olympic Medalist Penny Oleksiak.
So far Penny has traveled to Texas, Ontario and of course extensively around our beautiful province of British Columbia and I've already captured some amazing footage. Check out my YouTube channel or Instagram for the latest videos.
Unfortunately, I soon realized that to properly edit 4K video, you need a decent computer and so I ended up buying a Macbook Pro. In order to get "approval" for these purchases, I had to promise my wife a family trip to Hawaii this year. Sounds like a great deal and besides, Penny can join us in Hawaii! Stay tuned later this year for some awesome Hawaii drone footage.
